2010 Jockey's Challenge

Graham Lee lands top jockey prize for second year running

Graham Lee retained his title as Top Jockey at Cartmel, when he won the Cartmel Jockey's Challenge for a second successive season.

Lee, who has led the table since the second meeting of the year in May, clinched the crown in style on Monday 30th August when he won the daily prize to stretch his advantage over nearest pursuer Brian Hughes to 11 points.

Three points were awarded to the winning jockey in every race at Cartmel with two for the second and one for the third.

Lee wins a long weekend in the luxurious Netherwood Hotel at Grange-Over-Sands, whose owners Mike and Christine Fallowfield were sponsoring the Jockey's Challenge for the first time.

Lee finished with 28 points and was the only jockey to register scores on all seven days of Cartmel's 2010 season. Brian Hughes was second with 17 points, Paddy Aspell third on 14 and Tom O'Brien fourth with 12.

"I am delighted to have won for a second year. We had a great time with last year's prize. As we were looked after so well, I was hoping I would win again" said Lee.
